This call to action follows the expiration of terms for previous officials, which has left both bodies unable to operate at full capacity.
Highlighting the essential oversight role of the Control Yuan, Cho emphasized the importance of evaluating nominees based solely on their qualifications rather than political affiliations. He also stressed the necessity for a swift legislative review of the Cabinet’s nominees for the NCC to maintain seamless government operations.
The lack of commissioners at the NCC has led to a suspension of crucial tasks such as regulating telecommunications and renewing broadcasting licenses. This operational gap poses significant challenges to the continuity of services in these sectors.
Furthermore, critics have raised concerns that the Control Yuan’s current inability to function could result in delays in probing alleged misconduct by senior public officials. Such delays could hinder accountability and transparency in governance.
