The Philippines has decided to extend its visa-free entry program for visitors from Taiwan, allowing them to continue enjoying 14-day stays without a visa until June 30 of next year. This continuation of last year’s initiative is part of an ongoing effort to boost tourism and foster closer ties between the people of both regions. Taiwanese travelers planning longer visits, however, will still need to secure a visa prior to their arrival in the country.

This measure is in line with the Philippine government’s policy of reciprocal visa agreements, as Taiwan similarly offers visa-free access to travelers from the Philippines. With this extension, the Philippines aims to attract more tourists from Taiwan by not only making entry easier but also by enhancing flight connectivity and showcasing diverse travel destinations beyond the well-trodden paths like Palawan.

Tourism officials are keen to highlight lesser-known regions and unique experiences available throughout the archipelago, encouraging Taiwanese tourists to explore a broader range of what the Philippines has to offer. This strategic push aligns with the country’s broader tourism goals and the benefits of increased international travel exchanges.

Recent tourism statistics reveal that Taiwan is already a significant source of international visitors to the Philippines. In the first five months of this year alone, nearly 94,000 Taiwanese tourists visited, marking a noticeable increase from the previous year’s numbers. This uptick underscores the importance of maintaining and enhancing tourism ties with Taiwan.
