Taiwanese weightlifter Chen Guan-ling showcased an impressive performance at the World Weightlifting Championships held in Ningbo, China, securing two silver medals and one bronze in the women’s 57kg category. The 21-year-old excelled in the clean and jerk discipline, where she successfully lifted weights of 117kg, 119kg, and 125kg, earning a silver medal for her 125kg lift. Her total combined weight of 215kg also won her a silver medal, and she added a bronze for her performance in the snatch.

This achievement marks an improvement for Chen compared to her previous performance at the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, where she earned one silver and two bronze medals. Earlier this year, she also claimed a bronze medal in the same weight category during the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.

The World Weightlifting Championships, which continue until November 8, serve as a platform for athletes to gain qualification points for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. However, it is noteworthy that the women’s 57kg category, in which Chen competes, is not part of the Olympic weightlifting programme, which comprises six different weight classes.
