Taiwan has put a pause on processing visas for citizens of Morocco after the latter country ceased handling visa confirmation letter applications for Taiwanese travelers across the globe. This decision from Morocco was made based on the principle of reciprocity, according to Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The halt by Moroccan diplomatic missions specifically affects the confirmation letters that Taiwanese citizens need to secure visas upon arrival in Morocco. However, Taiwanese travelers who already have valid confirmation letters issued before this suspension will still be allowed entry into Morocco as long as their documents remain valid.
Taipei has expressed concerns that Morocco’s move has caused disruptions in travel and the exchange of people between the two regions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Taiwan has urged the Moroccan government to resume normal visa processing to facilitate smoother interactions.
In response to the situation, Taiwan has indicated that it will keep a close watch on Morocco’s visa policy developments. The Taiwanese authorities have also stated that they are prepared to modify their own visa measures in accordance with any changes in Morocco’s stance.
