A simple Tai Chi-based exercise is being called “life-changing” by a fitness expert with over three decades of experience. This movement, practiced daily by the coach for 35 years, is aimed at enhancing mobility and circulation for those 40 and over.
The exercise is named the “Qi Machine.” It was the very first technique the expert learned from their original Tai Chi teacher and has remained a cornerstone of their personal practice.
The movement’s core is a “double bounce” in the knees, performed with feet shoulder-width apart. The coach stresses that this is a “drop” motion, utilizing the body’s inherent elasticity to rebound, rather than a muscular “press” seen in squats.
This method shifts the workload from the muscles to the connective tissues (fascia, ligaments). These tissues act like springs, turning the downward drop into an “action potential” that propels the body up effortlessly.
This simple bounce becomes a full-body exercise when the arms are added in sync. It creates a “beautiful wave” through the spine and involves the ankles, knees, and hips.
The expert claims it circulates blood, calms the mind, and balances the body’s energy with minimal strain. This makes it an accessible and profound tool for anyone looking to maintain their vitality and connection to their body as they age.
